In Shell refinery Pernis at the Vondelingenplaat in Rotterdam on Saturday night, a fire broke out. One of the factories on the site was stopped because the electricity is out. The fire originated from short circuit in a spanningsstation, reports a spokesman of the security region.
In the wider area are flames to be seen. This is because the company under the security procedure excess gases from the factories affakkelt, that in the refining of oil release. Shell Pernis is with about sixty plants, the largest oil refinery in Europe.
The emergency services are with Shell in consultations about the further approach. The fire brigade could, because of the high voltage is not directly the spanningsstation in order to extinguish the fire. There are, according to the security region, there is no indication that release harmful substances.
According to a spokesman for Shell, it can take days until the plants are cut.
