Volkswagen has also in terms of searches on the internet rival Opel reports. Of the total number of queries for car brands went more than ten percent for Volkswagen, compared with eight per cent for Opel.
This is evident from the results of a research of the internet company Overture. The list of most searched car brands is broadly consistent with the list of most sold brands. Another – German – research shows that this is no coincidence. More than half of the respondents use search engines as the first to gather information about cars. Over eighty percent used the internet for the purchase of a car. Nearly sixty percent consult both online and offline sources, a quarter of them use only the internet.
“Just like in Germany, we see also in the Netherlands the success of the internet and the automotive industry go hand in hand”, says Joost Hagesteijn, sales director of Overture in the Netherlands. “Many companies already benefit from this fact by the internet in their marketing communications.”
